Who We Are
The Electrical and Electronic Standards Committee (EESC), under the Singapore Standards Council, spearheads the development and promotion of Singapore’s electrical and electronic standards to meet the needs of the industry and consumers. EESC champions the development, promotion and use of standards to support innovation, quality, safety and productivity in the electrical and electronics industry. The EESC covers the standardisation of equipment, systems and installations for the distribution and use of electricity, electrotechnical products as well as new areas supporting the energy transition such as renewable energy and its supporting technologies.
The EESC comprise standards partners from educational institutions, government agencies, industry associations and professional bodies with vast experience in the industry.

What We Do
EESC plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of electrical and electronic products, systems and services. Under the EESC purview, various Technical Committees and Working Groups are formed. They actively monitor and participate in the development and review of international standards that are of importance to Singapore, including those pertaining to new technologies and in emerging industries.
EESC participates actively in International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standardization and related activities. Examples of the EESC standards supporting national initiatives include:
- BCA – Building Control Act
- Energy Market Authority – Electricity Act
- Enterprise Singapore – Consumer Protection Registration Scheme
- SCDF – Fire Safety Act
In 2021, Nanyang Technological University-Standards Development Organization (NTU-SDO) was appointed by Enterprise Singapore to administer the standards development and promotional work of the EESC to its technical committees and working groups.
